Qatar will participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics with a delegation of 14 athletes across five sports, marking its 11th consecutive appearance at the Summer Games. The event is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Athletes Representing Qatar

1- Mutaz Essa Barshim – High Jump

  • A prominent athlete, Barshim is a three-time world champion and gold medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He holds the second-highest jump in history at 2.43m.

2- Abdulrahman Samba – 400m Hurdles

  • Samba is a notable hurdler with significant achievements in international competitions.

3- Bassem Hemeida – 400m Hurdles

  • Another strong contender in the hurdles, contributing to Qatar’s athletics team.

4- Ismail Dawood – 400m Hurdles

  • Dawood has shown promising performances in regional competitions as part of the hurdles team.

5- Ammar Ismail – 400m

  • A competitive athlete in the 400m event, having secured notable placements in recent championships.

6- Shahad Mohamed – 100m

  • The only female athlete representing Qatar, she will compete in the women’s 100m event.

7- Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan – Beach Volleyball

  • This duo won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and aims to continue their success in Paris.

8- Fares Ibrahim Hassouna – Weightlifting (Men’s 102 kg)

  • The reigning Olympic champion in his category, Hassouna is a strong medal contender after his silver win at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships.

9- Abdulaziz Al-Obaidli – Swimming (200m Breaststroke)

  • With a background in competitive swimming, Al-Obaidli has participated in various international events.

10- Saeed Abu Sharrb – Trap Shooting

  • Qualified after a strong performance at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships.

11- Rashid Saleh Al-Athba – Skeet Shooting

  • Another shooting athlete, Al-Athba, has succeeded at the World Shooting Championships.

12- Saif Mohammed – Pole Vault

  • A promising pole vaulter with a history of achieving high marks in regional competitions.

Overview of Participation

Qatar aims to enhance its Olympic medal tally, which stands at eight, including two golds. The athletes will compete in athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, and beach volleyball, showcasing the country’s growing presence in international sports.
