Starting September 1, 2024, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) will enforce travel restrictions on individuals with unpaid traffic fines. Anyone with outstanding violations will be barred from leaving the country through any border—land, air, or sea—until all fines are paid. This regulation aims to ensure compliance with traffic laws and clear all dues before travel.

To facilitate payments, individuals can settle their fines via the Metrash2 app, the MOI website, or at designated traffic department offices and service centres. Additionally, a 50% discount on traffic fines is available for violations recorded in the last three years, applicable from June 1 to August 31, 2024. This initiative encourages early payment of fines before the travel restrictions take effect.

New rules for vehicle exit permits will also take effect. Vehicles leaving Qatar must have no outstanding traffic violations, and the final destination must be specified. The vehicle owner or an authorized representative must apply for the exit permit, with certain exemptions for vehicles traveling to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
